Freezer Gin Martini

The ultimate martini - ice-cold gin straight from the freezer with a twist of lemon. No ice, no dilution, just pure, crisp perfection.

Yield: 1 cocktail
Prep: 2 minutes (gin must be frozen overnight)

Ingredients

  • London Dry Gin (stored in freezer): 90 ml (3 oz)
  • Dry vermouth (optional, stored in fridge): 5-10 ml (1/6-1/3 oz)
  • Lemon peel

Garnish

Lemon peel twist

Instructions

  1. 1

Store gin in freezer for at least 24 hours (it won't freeze due to alcohol content).

  2. 2

Chill coupe or martini glass in freezer for 30 minutes before serving.

  3. 3

Pour freezer-cold gin directly into chilled glass (add vermouth if using).

  4. 4

Express lemon peel over the drink - twist it to release oils.

  5. 5

Run the peel around the rim of the glass, then drop it in or discard.

  6. 6

    Serve immediately while ice-cold.

Notes

This is a purist's martini. The freezer-cold gin is viscous and silky, with no dilution from ice. Some prefer a tiny splash of vermouth (stored in the fridge), others go completely dry. The lemon oils are essential - they add brightness and aroma. Use a quality London Dry gin - this drink is all about the gin.

What This Is

The simplest martini. No shaking, no stirring, no ice. Freezer-cold gin in a frozen glass with a lemon twist. That’s it.

The cold makes the gin viscous and silky. You taste the botanicals without any dilution. It’s gin in its purest form.

The Setup

Gin lives in the freezer. It won’t freeze - alcohol content is too high. 24 hours minimum.

Glass lives in the freezer too. Coupe or martini glass, frozen until it frosts.

Pour, twist lemon peel over it to express the oils, drink.

The Gin

London Dry. Tanqueray, Beefeater, Sipsmith. You want juniper-forward, not floral or sweet.

This drink is all gin. Use good gin.

Vermouth

Purists go completely dry - no vermouth. Some add 5-10ml max. Your call.

If you use vermouth, store it in the fridge and use it within a few months. Old vermouth kills a martini.

The Lemon Twist

Not optional. Twist the peel over the drink to express the oils. The citrus aroma complements the botanicals.

Drink it fast while it’s ice-cold. This isn’t a sipper.
