Notes

The toasted marshmallow syrup is key - don't skip the charring step. It adds a campfire smokiness that makes this drink special. The syrup keeps refrigerated for 2 weeks. For extra smoke, use a smoking gun with applewood chips.

What This Is

Old Fashioned with toasted marshmallow syrup. Campfire smoke meets bourbon. Works better than it sounds.

The Syrup

Toast marshmallows over flame until golden with char. The char is where the campfire flavor comes from. Simmer with equal parts sugar and water, strain. Keeps 2 weeks refrigerated.

Don’t skip the charring. Lightly toasted marshmallows taste like marshmallows. Charred marshmallows taste like campfire.

The Build

Stir, don’t shake. Old Fashioneds are stirred for clarity and texture. Large ice cube keeps it cold without over-diluting.

Use good bourbon. This isn’t a mixer-heavy drink - the bourbon is the base, not background.

Express orange peel over the drink. The oils matter.

If You Want to Adjust It

Add mezcal for more smoke. Use rye instead of bourbon for spice. Rim the glass with graham cracker crumbs if you want full s’mores vibes.
